Members Show

MEMBERS SHOW AND SALE
December 5-20, 2014
www.printmakers.mb.ca

I will be participating in this years annual event with a simple piece called Inside Outside. Though the exhibit was open to any medium of which I considered many, I did want to have something print-based and in an area that I have been working on, which has been in the area of comics and experimenting and playing with comic pages. So what you see below is NOT what I have in the show but very similar.

What IS in the show is a continuous horizontal strip of all the panels. It looks really cool. Each of the panels is a movable block which enables different formations on the page and the print aspect is really neat because each print is an individual graphite rubbing. So they are all a little different.

NEWS OLDS

PREVIOUSLY - while settling in to the new...

LOGOS
... new Split Studio Space, the SSS. I draw, assemble and digitize in one space and I paint in another. The light is fantastic in one and not so light-fantastique in the other. One of these spaces has a huge graphic on the wall, an artifact from the seventies I am sure. I have recreated it here and I am using it on my business cards. It seems to suit me and my space well.

ALSO

Many new paintings have emerged from the new SSS. See the Painternak link to the right.

THE HAND SEES

The other day I was in my favorite antique & funk shop and came across a self portrait  I did 29 years ago. I had given it to my girlfriend at the time as a Christmas gift. It was so nice to see it again! I was surprised at how vibrant it was and that It was well taken care of. I wonder what happened? I hope that the other paintings that I gave her and her family are still alive and in good care.

Shopping C.A.R.T.

Tomorrow is the opening of an enormous group show I am happy to be part of at Current Space Gallery in Baltimore Maryland. At least 70 artist's interpretations of products and packaging in this store set-up 'art of commerce' ( or is it the groceries of art ) show called C.A.R.T.. The show continues to September 4th.

I am very happy to be part of this show as I get to display more of my art novelty items and it also gives me the impetus to create more! Not that I don't create on my own but I just seem to do even more. I seem to be only one of two Canadians participating, the other being Emily Comeau from Montreal.

I have 13 items in the show, with varying quantities of each. Some of the other items include:

-Top Secret Message
-Picture Cigarettes
-Loose Leaf Doodle Pages
-Post Surreal boxes
-Oxygen Capsules
-Admit It tickets
-Sgt.Smokes

Most of my items are not so much food related at a lot of the other work I've seen so far. It's all AMAZING! Some clever and talented folks out there.
